It is an understatement to say it’s curious that the final constellations in the Mazzaroth depict the end of His story and human history as we know it. Just stop and think for a moment: Cancer, the second to last sign in the heavens is all about the people of God holding on to the end. The associated decans depict the people of God (the seed of the Abraham) who straddle the Praesepe (the beehive) which contains the pole star Al Ruccaba, the people of God, who are gathered around the Lamb, their protector. They are arranged in two groups, those who are aligned upwards, towards the Lamb or downwards, toward the earth. The nebula of Praesepe is the brightest in the universe and contains innumerable stars -. These are they who are seed of Abraham, the saints of God who held on to the end.
Leo is the final constellation in His story. The Coming Judge, the Lion of Judah, the one who will judge all mankind – the living and the dead. The decans associated with the Lion of Judah are Crater the cup: – cup of the wrath of God poured out in judgement on the earth over those who rejected His salvation. The Raven and the Hydra symbolise the final judgement on the devil who wages war against the saints and the raven is synonymous with the judgement coming on those who reject Him. All the pieces fit in the global, cosmic story. It’s uncanny; what better way to wrap up the story of the ages?
But I would like to add one more dimension that has to do with the polarity of the heavens and our place in it here on earth. I suspect we all have some awareness of the nature of the poles, the magnetic field of the earth and the location of the magnetic north point. The feature of the earth’s magnetism which is behind the ability of all compasses to point to the north point. There have been a number of articles recently in the world media concerning the fact that the north point, or magnetic north is moving. This means that the north point is having to be recalibrated. It is only discernible to those for whom highly accurate calculations of the location of magnetic north and its relationship to navigation matter. Some scientists feel the reason is the spinning ball of molten iron beneath the surface of earth is what is causing the magnetic polarity to move. Others confess to not knowing why this phenomenon is happening.
Having just been working through the Mazzaroth signs for a long time and adding to my awareness of the facts and their significance, I am struck by the fact that the Pole star, Cynosura, which marks the centre of the Mazzaroth is moving. Yes, geographically it is moving toward Russia but in terms of the constellations, the pole star, the governing point of the earth’s motion, is moving away from the Dragon star and toward the centre of the Higher and Lesser Sheepfold, Ursa Minor and Ursa Major and Australis Borealis and Asellus Borealis. Is this a cosmic move which mirrors the time when there will be the great in-gathering of people coming to God that the Bible talks about in the end times? It seems far-fetched, a little too fanciful to dare to think that it has cosmic significance. But the truth is that is what is happening.
Do the constellations of stars in the heavens tell more of a story than we dare to think? Is the movement of the Pole star and the change in magnetic north symbolic of a coming change in the focus of the cosmos on the manifestation or disclosure of the true people of God? That seems to be case but I don’t know if that is reading too much into things or not. I will keep studying it all and hold it loosely. I guess it is much like all the study undertaken to ascertain when the LORD will return. There are all sorts of theories. When I was first a Christian I was eager to know. Now I am content to be in a state of readiness and wait for His appearing. But it would not surprise me in the least if the heavens and the earth as well as the stars in the sky all point toward the events of the end of this current age. That would be typical of God and would seal again for me the wonder of the way in which He communicates with mankind.
In the next Nugget we will take a different tack on the heavenly bodies.
