Did you pick up on the fact that you have a comparative passage to look at on this Parable? I trust some of you found it. Take time now to consider Luke’s differences and similarities with Mark and Matthew to see if anything stands out. I could continue on today to make comment about it but I will give you a day in between to do it yourself. I know there are those of you who value being pointed in the right direction and then given time to work on it. So you have the time now. You can see what the thrust of each writer is above but doing some comparisons. More will come clear if you look at what each writer has done in the wider context. Take time now to work out the significance of Luke’s account as you look at the way he has handled Mark’s account of the parable in comparison with Matthew. It is clear from what I have told you already that Luke knew of Mark’s material and has used it to suit his purposes. We are not so sure if Luke knew of Matthew’s material. Some say he did and some say he only knew Q, the document behind both Matthew and Luke’s differences as opposed to Luke. But in this case all three are in parallel and not just two. Do some digging to find out what their purposes are. Don’t forget the wider picture!
Happy hunting.

Expect all of the Bible to make sense and to be connected. Not one verse of Scripture was put in there by mistake or without purpose.
