Now we come to a huge verse. One of my favourites in all of Scripture.
and the Word flesh became and tabernacled {in/among} us and {we beheld} the glory {of Him} glory as {the unique born} with {[the] Father,} full {of grace} and truth
John 1:14
(AMP) And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.
(BBE) And so the Word became flesh and took a place among us for a time; and we saw his glory–such glory as is given to an only son by his father–saw it to be true and full of grace.
(CEV) The Word became a human being and lived here with us. We saw his true glory, the glory of the only Son of the Father. From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come down to us.
(GW) The Word became human and lived among us. We saw his glory. It was the glory that the Father shares with his only Son, a glory full of kindness and truth.
(ISV) The Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. We gazed on his glory, the kind of glory that belongs to the Father’s unique Son, full of grace and truth.

(LITV) And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, glory as of an only begotten from the Father, full of grace and of truth.
(MSG) The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.
(NLT) So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
Wow, can you see the power of that verse in these various versions. Use the versions to sort out the deeper meaning, even when you don’t have ability in Greek and Hebrew. There is a wealth of information to be found when you look. If you are using E-Sword, note with the KJV+ (or any + version) you can run your cursor over Strong’s Numbers and pull up all sorts of extra info on the meaning of each word. It is very useful. You can have access to the Hebrew and Greek Lexicons even though you don’t know Hebrew and Greek but surprise, surprise – the info is in English. Well, that’s worth knowing.
I pulled up all these versions in E-Sword in a matter of seconds. [E-Sword is available from http://www.e-sword.net/ ] It’s free and so powerful. Go get it. And take note you Indonesians who receive this, E-Sword has three Indonesian versions available as well. And there is far more to E-sword than this. The power is impressive and did I mention – it’s free. Of course I mentioned it, I am just being biblical and using repetition to make my point.
Ponder on these for a while and I will tell you more tomorrow.
While we are in the text of John 1, we will compare the Bible with one of the world’s greatest rock songs. Wait for it. Can you guess which song and which Bible verse relates to it?
Measure your wealth not by the things you have, but by the things you have for which you would not take money.
