Today is the day I start sending out Bible Gems on Twitter and posting them on Facebook
Where in the Bible do you find a pre–Genesis 1:1 reference? I.e. a before the beginning reference?
The pre-Genesis 1:1 ref is John 1:1. Where John says “In the beginning WAS the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” He, the Word, WAS before the beginning, because in the beginning He already WAS. Wow that is cool. John is using another new term for Christ. He uses the new term “The Word” for the one who was with the Father and the Spirit ᾿Εν ἀρχῇ (in the beginning) and then develops it through his gospel. Take note of the times The Word is active in John. Someone asked me at the seminar in Bandung. “How does the Bible fit with evolution? Are there two creations in Genesis 1 and 2?” Answer tomorrow.
I will include with each Gem a selection of related quotes or quips. Here is today’s offering.
God only gives us what we can handle, but sometimes I wish he didn’t trust me so much!

Don’t look up, look down. You are seated with Him in heavenly places.

If evolution is true, why do mothers still only have one pair of hands?

I love your two humorous quotes here Ian.
That puts a smile on my face Sarah.
